Bond Street REIT

P. Eric Hohmann

Principal

Eric Hohmann is a co-founder and Principal of Bond Street.  Eric has been an engaged student of the retail real estate industry for 30 years.  A frequent commentator on industry trends at conferences, trade publications, and podcasts, Eric has experienced the decline of the enclosed mall business, the rise of lifestyle retail and mixed-use development, and the growth of food hall markets.  His career has included project development, execution of repositioning strategies, institutional investment underwriting, and organizational leadership.

Prior to co-founding Bond Street with Mike, Eric was President of Madison Marquette (http://madisonmarquette.com), a private, fully integrated real estate investment management and operating company providing a comprehensive set of services to institutional investors in retail, mixed-use and office assets in top-tier markets across the United States.  After joining the firm in 1999, Eric rose from project development manager of the 1 million square foot mixed-use Bay Street/Emeryville (http://www.baystreetemeryville.com) to Western Regional Head of Investments to leading the Madison’s investment, development, and operations teams as President.   While he was at Madison, the company launched the ambitious redevelopment of the Asbury Park waterfront, integrating retail and entertainment on a major scale.   More recently, the District La Brea project (districtlabrea.com) brought emerging retail brands and creative office users to a completely redeveloped block in Los Angeles.  And finally, in spring of 2014, the company broke ground on one of the country’s largest and highest profile developments – a monumental and exciting project known as The Wharf (www.thewharf.com). The Wharf will total over 3 million square feet and include a mix of first-to-market retail brands, local and regional food and dining offerings, a live performance venue, entertainment, Class A office, residential and hospitality.

During his stint at Madison, Eric worked with institutional partners such as PSP Investments, LaSalle Investment Management, ADIA, and BlackRock as well as served on the investment committee of a $500 Million opportunity fund.

Prior to Madison Marquette, Eric had the good favor to work for The Irvine Company and JMB Realty.

Eric earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
